Commonplace-book probably kept by John S. Whiting. The dated entries are from 1848-50 and include poems, a sketch, a few short essays, and some extracts from Shakespeare. Two of the poems refer to his undergraduate days at Harvard (Class of 1850), the freshman bonfire and a class ode.
